The Integral Coaching Process

The typical Integral Coaching program involves meetings with me every two to three weeks after a couple of initial conversations (see below).  Your work will include following through on various practices and exercises that I will develop for you and a short period nightly of reflective journaling.

There are several types of Conversations that we will have during a coaching program:

  • After an initial free short conversation between us to get to know each other a bit and determine if we are a good fit for a coaching relationship, we will have an Intake Conversation that usually is about 90 minutes in length where we explore deeply what it is that you would like to work on or how you are stuck, why this is meaningful to you and what reaching your goal or moving forward might look like – we will come up with a short description for this that will be your topic for the coaching program.
  • Before our next meeting, I will have worked with what you have shared and come up with a prospective coaching program which I will present to you during our next meeting in an Offer Conversation, which will also be about 90 minutes in length.  It is called an offer conversation as this coaching methodology  is organic and creative in nature and requires your full involvement to help craft and possibly reshape the program so it is a perfect fit for your unique needs.
  • At this point you will make a decision on proceeding with the coaching.  With some people what is presented in the Offer Conversation provides all they need to get moving forward;  more likely, we will start a series of 60 to 90 minute Cycle of Development Conversations  every two or three weeks for a period appropriate to the scope of what you want to achieve – this period could last anywhere from 2 months to a year, though most programs seem to average around 5 to 6 months.  During these meetings we will discuss what has transpired for you since our last meeting and I will usually present a new practice for you to engage in until our next meeting.  These practices will help you develop the capacities you need to move forward in your topic.
  • At the end of the program we will have a final meeting where we will cover the progress you have made and make sure that you have what you need to continue to move forward outside of the coaching relationship.
